FATE collaborated with Hum-Aahang, another student-run organization at LUMS, to invite a guest speaker to the university for a talk. Popular lawyer, civil rights activist and politician, Jibran Nasir, visited LUMS for a talk on the role of empathy as effective arsenal to combat extremism. He used his years of experience fighting a battle against notions of violence and terrorism to address a houseful audience, and later participated in FATE’s ‘I #ChallengeExtremism’ campaign to spread awareness of how pressing it is to have a defined stance against what was become a global phenomenon. He stated, ‘I #ChallengeExtremism because I refuse to keep my mouth shut!’, and it was exactly this message he reiterated in his address to the students of LUMS. The talk was moderated by Dr. Taimur Rahman.
